Alumni Event
Beta Alpha Psi hosts a bi-annual alumni event in the fall and summer where current alumni can reconnect with familiar faces and meet our active members to foster a stronger community.

Summer '23
"I had an absolutely remarkable time at the last alumni event. It was really awesome to reconnect with old friends, and I was just as excited to meet new faces who could eventually be future coworkers. I got to catch up with my mentor for the first time in person, and it certainly is more livelier and fun to be face to face rather than seeing him on a Zoom call. Overall, the atmosphere is energetic and the excitement is contagious because events like these remind us of the amazing community BAP has fostered."

"I love attending alumni events, not for the networking and seeing what professional careers alumni have, but because I'm able to see how Beta Alpha Psi has been able to touch so many people in such specific ways. My favorite stories to hear about are the ones about others candidate semester or how they met their best friends. It makes me really appreciate the community I have around me and how to make the most out of the experiences I have right now. My favorite one so far has been the Spring 2022 one when we were all able to go to the rooftop of the venue and see the amazing view and talk with the alumni even more."

"Both alumni events I've been to have been such great experiences! It's always fun to meet the alumni and hear what their experience in BAP was like, and what they've been doing since being an active. I had the chance to talk to one of my friends who graduated only the semester prior at an alumni event, and it was amazing to hear about their summer and how work is going, and talk to them one more time before they start working full time. It's also always nice to have the chance to catch up with the current BAP actives, who I might otherwise not see over break."

Alumni Mentorship
Thanks to alumni looking to give back to BAP, our members have the opportunity to network with industry professionals and build meaningful relationships. Find out below about the different ways Alumni contribute to professional development, such as through mentorship and speaker panels.
What were your expectations for the mentorship program before it started?

Caleb Amias
I wanted to connect with someone who could help me better understand investment banking and how to prepare during college. This program stood out because I’d be learning from someone who had recently gone through the same process. I felt their perspective would provide honest, relevant insights into finance and help me shape my approach to recruiting and building a successful career path.
Rishad Dharani
What were some of the things discussed during the mentorship?

Caleb Amias
In our first meeting, we discussed Rishad’s early exposure to investment banking and what initially drew him to the field. Beyond that meeting, we continued to stay in touch. He gave me valuable insights into recruitment, helped tailor my resume, and guided me through mock interviews, which ultimately boosted my confidence and better prepared me for the internship application process.

I’ve had a few different mentees and each experience has been unique. We’ve discussed everything from how to prepare for technical interviews and recruiting strategies to how to make the most of college and build connections. I think the more you put into the mentorship program, the more you get out of it and my mentees have definitely taken advantage of that.

What did you learn from the experience?
How have you applied your mentor's advice in your academic/professional career?

Caleb Amias
The most valuable lesson I learned was that consistency and daily effort make ambitious goals feel far more achievable. While the banking recruitment process seemed overwhelming at first, Rishad’s advice helped me take it one step at a time. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining strong relationships, which made the process not only manageable but also more meaningful and rewarding in the long run.

Did you have any mentorship while in BAP? If so, what was the experience like?
Work ethic was a theme that came up frequently in our conversations and became something I applied both academically and in my extracurriculars like BAP. Professionally, Rishad helped me realize that my interests are best suited to middle market investment banking, where I can gain broad deal experience while taking on greater client responsibility early on—something that really motivates me.
Yes, my mentor was an incredibly valuable resource that I leaned on especially during my recruitment process, which was a stressful time. It was great to have someone who has gone through what I was just beginning and could provide advice and guidance that I couldn’t have found in the classroom or online.

How was your overall experience in BAP?
Rishad Dharani
I truly enjoyed my experience in BAP and made lifelong friends and memories that I’m very grateful for. BAP doesn’t just develop you professionally but allows you to grow personally and find a community within such a large university. I look forward to staying connected with the organization and helping out where I can.
